Compressed air in sandblasting equipment

Compressed air is widely used in sandblasting equipment as a power energy, such as removing surface oxide skin residual salt and welding slag after heat treatment of metal parts, welding parts, castings, forging parts, etc.

Clean small burrs, tips, and surface residue on machined parts; Change the workpiece surface roughness Ra value; The active surface can be obtained by pretreatment of the workpiece surface before electroplating, and the adhesion of the electroplated coating can be improved. Also used for finishing the parts with high precision and complex shape which are difficult to be finished by other processing methods. In the mechanical processing industry, such as refurbishment of old parts, surface treatment between processes, etc., all need compressed air auxiliary sandblasting equipment to complete.

Sand blasting equipment typically requires compressed air to have a certain sufficient pressure and flow rate, if without a certain pressure, the electromagnetic valve cannot be guaranteed to open, the control mechanism will not work normally and abrasive of the sand blasting machine can not be sprayed to the metal surface along with the gas, finally it is difficult to form impact strength.

The harder the hardness of the workpiece, the higher the air pressure is required. In order to achieve the specified roughness, it is necessary to use high pressure compressed air as well as high hardness abrasives for some special materials or after heating the workpiece. However, when working with aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, magnesium alloys, and other materials, it is necessary to lower the compressed air pressure to prevent damage to the workpiece's surface. So some tests are conducted to determine the parameters of the sand blasting cleaning process, including compressed air power, abrasive type, particle size, particle shape, distance between the nozzle and the workpiece, etc.

However, the most important point in the sandblasting process is that polluted compressed air mixed with lubricating oil into a gaseous mixture, and then mixed with abrasives in the injection process will result in a surface roughness that is unsatisfactory and increase the costs of production. So the pollutants contained in compressed air such as water, solid particles, oil vapours must be treated by air dryers, moisture water separators and in-line air filters to meet the quality requirements of ISO8573.

As a leading manufacturer of high quality compressed air and gas treatment equipment since 1998 in China, Yun Air Technology offers air line water separators and particulate and coalescing air filters for sandblasting equipment.
