A: Activated carbon is designed strictly for vapor and odor adsorption, not for trapping liquid water, oil droplets, or solid particles. If liquid oil or moisture enters the YD030 ACS, it will quickly saturate and "blind" the microscopic pores of the carbon media, causing premature failure. To maximize the filter element's lifespan and achieve ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 1 air purity, you must install a high-efficiency coalescing pre-filter (such as a 0.01-micron oil removal filter) directly upstream to catch all liquid aerosols first.
Q2: How often should the activated carbon filter element be replaced, and how can we tell it's saturated?
A: Unlike standard particulate filters, activated carbon filters do not show a significant increase in pressure drop (differential pressure) when they are saturated. Therefore, a pressure gauge will not tell you when to change it.
